If you are owed money by an individual or sole trader then the process for collection of money has changed with effect from 1^st October 2017 when the new Pre-Action Protocol for Debt Claims was introduced.

The Protocol applies to all businesses including sole traders who are seeking payment of a debt from an individual or sale trader.

The new Pre-Action Protocol sets out specific steps that businesses need to take and event identifies the contents of the letters that must be sent to the Debtor before Court Action can be taken.
