Musings : Where Help to Buy's a Hindrance?

You have a three bedroomed semi detached property with three good sized double bedrooms, built in the 1950s. So why isn’t it selling as quickly as you had been led to believe it would by the agents. Yes there have been plenty of viewings and you even had sale agreed once, but the buyer pulled out. Could it be because the Help to Buy scheme offered by the government doesn’t apply to older properties. You’ve had people viewing who have said they prefer the older style property. It has more character, is better built and has larger room sizes. But they can get Help to Buy on the tiny new build property down the road. Isn’t it time the government helped those people wanting to move on up to their second homes by offering first time buyers the Help to Buy scheme on older properties and not just on new builds?
