Justice must come first – Chairman of Magistrates Association

John Bache Chairman of the Magistrates Association writing in The Times has highlighted the Governments huge cost cutting in the Criminal Justice System in the last decade seriously reducing access to Legal Aid to the detriment of Defendants (innocent until proven guilty) and their victims.

“Half of all Magistrates Courts which deal with more than 90% of all criminal cases have closed in the past decade…before more courts are closed it is essential that all of us working in the justice system ensure that they (the government) deliver a system that the public can be confident will not only be efficient but also treat them fairly.

Here at Mosshaselhurst we whole heartedly endorse Mr Bache’s views and support his call to put the interests of justice before cost cutting.
