Did you know that the minimum wage changes in 2022?

On 1 April 2022 all National Minimum Wage (NMW) rates and the National Living Wage (NLW) payable to workers aged 23 and over will increase.

Plan ahead – check out the new rates and how they will affect you:-

  • NLW – payable to all workers aged 23 and over – from £8.91 to £9.50 per hour.
  • NMW – adult rate – payable to all workers who are aged 21 and 22 - £8.36 to £9.18 per hour.
  • Youth Development Rate – payable to all workers aged 18 to 20 – increase £6.56 to £6.83 per hour.
  • Young Workers Rate – payable to workers under 18 - £4.62 to £4.81 per hour.
  • Apprentice Rate – from £4.30 to £4.81 per hour.

The Government minimum target for the NLW by April 2024 is £10.50 per hour.

Employers may consider it good practice to inform their staff about any annual NMW changes, albeit this is not a legal obligation.
