1. Choose a professionally qualified or accredited builder
2. Obtain 3 Quotations (don’t just select the cheapest Quotation)
3. Ask your friends or acquaintances for recommendations and inspect their work
4. Check social media
5. Agree everything in writing, preferably in a Contract
6. Agree staged payments based on approved milestones and retain the final balance until you are completely satisfied
7. Engage a Qualified Surveyor to supervise the work and to authorise release of each staged payment
