ANNUAL INCREASE TO INJURY TO FEELINGS AWARDS

On 30 March 2026 new compensation guidelines for “injury to feelings” awards in discrimination cases, referred to as the “Vento Bands”, were announced.  The awards are adjusted, usually annually, to make sure the levels remain aligned with inflation.

From 6 April 2026 the following bands will apply to  successful Employment Tribunal  claims:-

Lower Band (less serious cases)                   £1,300 to £12,600

Middle Band (serious cases)                          £12,600 to £37,700

Upper Band (most serious cases)                  £37,700 to £62,900

Amounts exceeding £62,900 can be awarded in the most exceptional cases
