Probate costs about to increase by 75 %

The cost of obtaining a Grant of Probate is to become more expensive shortly as Probate Registry fees are due to increase from £300 to £526.

The Government says:

‘ An increase to the probate application fee to £526… recovers the cost of an ever-improving service… rising inflation as well as investment in delivering an efficient and modern service. ‘

An application for a Grant of Probate can be made quickly, if all the details of assets and liabilities are known, and takes about two weeks to be issued by the Probate Registry.
