THE IMPORTANCE OF FUNERAL WISHES
We all know how important it is to have a Will in place. A Will can include many important requirements about who is to receive your assets or who looks after children under the age of eighteen.
One issue that can sometimes be overlooked however is the intention around arrangements for a funeral.
Disputes can happen if one family member wants to make the arrangements that are at odds with what other relatives think should happen. A Will allows the funeral arrangements to be specified to avoid doubt and prevent disputes. There are pre-paid funeral plans that can assist further but the initial requirements can easily be put into a Will to help relatives and, importantly, the Executors who are responsible for sorting out an estate.
Not specifying funeral arrangements in a Will could make a difficult time more complex. We can assist you in sorting out your funeral requirements to appropriately mention them in your Will.
If you would like to include a funeral wishes clause in your Will or would like to store a funeral wishes letter with your Will, please do not hesitate to contact our Private Client Team on 01606 74301 who will be more than happy to assist.
