Recent research has found that home owners are more likely to spend their hard earned cash on assisting children get on the property ladder than support their education.

Downsizing is one of the most popular ways of funding this using the equity in family homes, now too big for parents,  to allow children to purchase a property of their own.

However this can come with difficulties as there are a lot of other factors to consider. Although there can be less space to maintain and manage the most important factor can still be having a garden and a car parking space.
