What is a Cheshire Brine Search?

What is a Brine Search? In Cheshire this is a search against the Cheshire Brine Compensation Board's records to see whether the property you are purchasing has been affected by past brine mining.  If so, then there is a chance that the property could suffer from mining subsidence.

Mining Subsidence occurs when there are ground surface movement caused by the collapse or failure of underground mining’s. This can potentially damage homes and property over time. The type of damage can vary from small cracking in the plaster or drywall to more serious damage that affects the supporting walls and footings.

Depending on where you intend to buy a property, a Brine Search is one of several pre-contract Searches that will be recommended by your Conveyancer/Solicitor.

If you have any questions about a Brine Search, contact the Property Team at mosshaselhurst on 01606 74301 who will be happy to answer any of your questions and provide you with further advice.
